House Blanket Insulation Kit – EcoQuilt65

The ultimate House Blanket Insulation Kit – EcoQuilt65. DIY friendly solution to provide the maximum thermal gain, to create a much improved ambient temperature and also to prevent condensation. Cooler summers, warmer winters and lower bills!

If you are finding it hard to keep your energy bills down when trying to keep your home an ambient temperature, it is likely your home is poorly insulated.

Equally, if you suffer from damp and mould growth the likelihood is you require more insulation, as this develops from fluctuations in temperature causing condensation.

Why Insulate Your Ceiling?

By insulating your ceiling, you will see a reduction in your energy bills. This is because if you have an uninsulated ceiling, exposed to the external elements 25% of the heat energy leaving your account, is literally escaping above you (wasted).

Insulating your ceiling is therefore a very worthwhile investment. By installing the EcoPro Ceiling Insulation Kit, you can start saving and get a return on your investment every single year!

If you do not insulate your Loft, this in effect means you are consuming 25% more energy than is necessary to get the same level result as someone who does have effective Loft Insulation. The EcoPro Ceiling Insulation Kit is an affordable option when upgrading your current insulation.

What  is included in the EcoPro Ceiling Insulation Kit?

  • EcoQuilt65 1.5 x 10m (15m²)

EcoQuilt65 is a 19 layer reflective multifoil insulation, made up of recycled wadding, PE foams and reflective foils. It is just 65mm thick, but compresses to just 12mm when installed. EcoQuilt65 is our thermally highest performing multifoil, and equates to approx 180mm Mineral Wool.

  • Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape

Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape 75mm x 50m is designed to seal the joints and the edges – which creates your vapour control layer.

  • Heavy Duty Staple Gun Kit

Within the kit, you benefit from a Heavy-Duty Staple Gun. This also comes complete with 5,000 x 14mm Staples.

  • 10″ Multifoil Insulation Scissors

You can use these Stainless Steel Scissors, to make any necessary cuts easily.

You can simply roll out EcoQuilt65 as a flat continuous layer underneath your roof rafters. Our recommendation is to staple the multifoil at 300mm intervals with our Staple Gun and 14mm Staples. If the product needs overlapping, we recommend a 50mm overlap. Once all stapled and fixed in place, next product to tape and seal over the overlaps and around the perimeter.

One of the main advantages of this kit is that you save on the installation cost, you genuinely do not need professional installers, as the insulation within the kit is free from any harmful floating fibres and it is easy to install.

expand_circle_down Q&As

Can I double up on the insulation?

Yes, you can do two layers of the EcoQuilt Expert Insulation. We recommend using a 25mm wooden batten over the first layer of insulation and attaching the second layer to the wooden battens. Or if the rafters of your loft are long enough you can recess the first layer of insulation into the rafters and then the second layer can sit across the rafters.

What should I use to cut the insulation?

In this kit, we provide a pair of 10” multifoil insulation scissors which are perfect for the job.

How do I measure the loft ceiling (under rafter)?

Measure the internal length (X) of the loft then measure the internal height (Y) from the Eaves to the Ridge at the top of the loft. Multiply X by Y this will give you Z. If you have two sloping roof sections multiply Z by 2. This will give you the total square meterage of your loft ceiling.

Do I need to overlap the insulation?

Yes, you do need to overlap the insulation otherwise you won’t get the best thermal performance. We don’t recommend taping and sealing the insulation in this application so overlapping the insulation will stop any draughts from getting in and warm air from escaping.

Will the foil insulation cause any problems with damp?

No, actually this will help prevent damp and mould and it’ll help reduce the risk of condensation.

Can I board over this insulation?

Yes, you can board over this insulation by adding wooden battens over the top of the insulation and attaching what you’d like to board over with to the wooden battens.

Do I need any specific PPE to complete this job?

No, you don’t need any protective clothing, masks, or safety goggles as there are no harmful fibres in the insulation.
