EcoTec Window Insulation Kit
EcoTec Window Insulation Kit
Keep your home warm, energy-efficient, and comfortable with the EcoTec Window Insulation Kit.
Insulating windows is quick, easy, and highly effective with this kit, helping you reduce heat loss, lower energy bills, and maintain a cozy indoor environment.
Even small gaps in windows can cause cold drafts, increase heating costs, and make rooms uncomfortable. That’s why proper insulation is essential to stop cold air from entering and retain heat indoors.
Why Choose the EcoTec Window Insulation Kit?
The EcoTec Window Insulation Kit reflects heat back into your room, prevents drafts, and keeps your indoor spaces warm. It’s a simple and reliable solution for year-round comfort and energy savings.
-
Maximise Heat Reflection: Keeps rooms warmer by reflecting heat back inside.
-
Temperature Control: Reduces cold drafts from windows and prevents heat loss in winter.
-
Energy Efficient: Cuts heating costs by maintaining indoor warmth.
-
Moisture-Resistant: Protects window frames from condensation and damp
Insulate Your Windows for All-Season Comfort!
You can simply apply the EcoTec Multifoil Insulation directly to your window frames using the Thermaseal Double-Sided Tape provided in the kit. However, for optimal performance, the EcoTec Window Insulation Kit works best when you create a small air gap (around 20–25mm) between the insulation and the glass or frame. This air gap helps to enhance heat reflection, improve energy efficiency, and prevent cold bridging — ensuring your windows stay warmer for longer and your rooms remain comfortable even in the coldest months.
If you prefer a more discreet installation, you can also position the insulation neatly against the frame or behind curtains and blinds. Alternatively, the insulation can be left exposed, which is a common and practical option for spaces like conservatories, garden rooms, and workshops.
The EcoTec Window Insulation Kit includes everything you need to seal and insulate your windows quickly and effectively — helping to reduce heat loss, eliminate cold drafts, and enhance year-round thermal performance.

How To Install Airtec Double
-
Measure Area & Cut Insulation
Measure the area of the section you are insulating. Then roll out the insulation and cut to size. Our insulation can be cut with scissors or a cutting knife, both these can be found in our multifoil fitting kit.
-
Staple EcoAirtec Double
To gain the best thermal performance it is recommended to have an air cavity either side if the insulation. Staple the insulation directly on the studs or rafters at 300mm centres. Once the next layer is installed, either horizontally or vertically, ensure the product is overlapped by 50mm.
-
Tape and Seal with Thermaseal Foil Tape
It is vital to ensure the insulation is fully taped and sealed using Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape. Our Foil Tape is 75mm therefore this will cover a 50mm overlap. It is crucial to ensure the insulation is fully taped and sealed over all overlaps and around the perimeter. This ensure the product works as a high performance Vapour Control Layer.
-
Counter Batten Insulation
Once the insulation is fully covered and taped and sealed, to gain the best thermal performance we recommend installing a counter batten over the top. 19mm deep battens would be suitable, spaced apart around 500mm. This will create a solid finish to screw the internal board to.
-
Finish with Internal Boarding
Finish the project by installing internal boarding on the battens. Plasterboard, cladding or timber boards are popular options.
What would you recommend using the EcoTec Insulation Kit for?
If you’re simply using the space as hydroponic rooms, grow tents, and indoor gardening setups we’d recommend using the EcoTec Hydropinics Reflective insulation kit as you don’t need the insulation to keep the space warm at all times it’ll help protect the contents from the elements.
Do I need to tape and seal the insulation?
Yes, we recommend taping and sealing over all joints and overlaps on the roof and walls. This will help the products to act as a high-performing vapor control layer. However, if you’re insulating the floor, you still need to tape and seal the perimeter but leave the overlaps un-taped, this will ensure any moisture will escape below.
Why do I need to overlap the insulation?
The insulation should be overlapped by 50mm because this will stop draughts from entering the space and warm air from escaping.
Do I need to leave an air gap?
This is not essential for this application - however, we do recommend that you have a minimum air gap of 25mm on either side of the insulation however if a larger air gap is present this will only benefit the insulation. The air gap will help reflect any heat inside and any cool air outside.
