Foil-Tec Single is a high-performance reflective vapour control barrier (VCL) designed to improve thermal efficiency while helping to manage moisture within the building envelope. Combining reflective insulation properties with effective vapour control, this versatile 2-in-1 solution helps reduce heat loss and minimise the risk of condensation.
Manufactured with a durable laminated foil coating, Foil-Tec Single offers excellent resistance to corrosion and long-term performance. Its ultra-thin profile, measuring less than 1mm thick, makes it ideal for applications where space is limited, while remaining flexible and easy to install.
Reflective Insulation & Vapour Control in One Product
As a reflective vapour control layer, Foil-Tec Single works by reflecting radiant heat back into the building while also acting as a barrier against moisture vapour. This dual-purpose design helps improve the overall thermal performance of roofs, walls, and floors without significantly increasing build-up thickness.
Despite its slim construction, Foil-Tec Single delivers insulation performance comparable to 32mm of mineral wool, making it a practical space-saving solution for both new-build and refurbishment projects.
Reduce Condensation and Air Leakage
When installed with sealed joints using Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape, Foil-Tec Single forms a continuous vapour control barrier that helps prevent moisture from passing through the structure. By reducing air leakage and controlling vapour movement, it helps lower the risk of interstitial condensation while improving the energy efficiency of the building.

How thick is the FoilTec Single?
FoilTec Single is a highly reflective foil insulation which is less than 1mm in thickness. This product is commonly used in lofts, floors and walls to save on cost, space and installation time compared to traditional products.
Can I use this product behind plasterboard?
Yes, FoilTec Single can be installed directly behind plasterboard, stapled to rafters or battens. When this product is fully taped and sealed, FoilTec Single Lite will act as high performing vapour barrier, eliminating condensation.
Can this product be used in Roofs?
FoilTec Single is commonly stapled to roof rafters to help reflect and retain more heat during the winter, saving on energy bills. It also helps reflect away excess heat in the summer, keeping your property at a more ambient temperature all year round.
Does FoilTec act as a vapour barrier?
Yes, when fully taped and sealed with ThermaSeal Foil Tape, FoilTec Single Lite will act as a high performing vapour barrier, eliminating the risk of condensation.
Do I need an air space on both sides of the insulation?
All multi foil insulation products work best by creating a cavity of at least 25mm on both sides of the insulation. This allows the foils to reflect properly and reduces cold bridging.
How is this superior to a conventional vapour control layer?
Foil-Tec provides more strength and thermal performance compared to a traditional VCL.
Is this product accredited?
Yes - Foil-tec can be applied to enhance ‘U’ values in new build or refurbished building project to meet and exceed current building regulations.
Should I install this product vertically or horizontally?
This can be installed either vertically or horizontally - choose the most appropriate direction depending on your wall height.
Do I need to tape this product?
We do advise using our Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape around all of the joints and edges this ensures no passage of moisture.
