With temperatures set to soar over the coming weeks, what can you do to keep your conservatory cooler?

Insulate!

Insulating your conservatory roof is the best way to keep it cooler in warm weather and warmer in cold weather.

An Uninsulated Conservatory on a Sunny Day

EcoQuilt Expert Insulation

In Summer EcoQuilt Expert insulation effectively reflects away excess and unwanted heat, and creating a more ambient temperature into your home. Reducing the need for artificial cooling systems and therefore preventing uncomfortable heat build-up in your Conservatory.

Ecoquilt Expert Insulation

EcoQuilt Expert is a Highly Reflective 6 Layer Multifoil Insulation Blanket. It is designed to Insulate Roofs, Walls, Floors, Conservatories, Garden Buildings & Caravans. Also it is suitable for many more applications as it is flexible, thin, and simple to install. It is 15mm thick in its open state and will compress down to approximately 6mm. EcoQuilt Expert Conservatory Kit

Using our EcoQuilt Expert Conservatory Kit is the simplest way to insulate your conservatory roof. The kit is available in 2 different sizes.

Our Kit features…

  • EcoQuilt Expert Multifoil Insulation 1.5m x 10m (15m²) OR 2 x 1.5m x 10m (30m²)
  • True Aluminium Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape 75mm x 50m
  • Heavy Duty Staple Gun
  • 5000 x 14mm Staples
  • 200 x FastFix Conservatory Screws 4.8mm x 50mm

How to Install Ecoquilt Expert…

Step 1. Install 25mm deep timber battens onto the UPVC beams. These are screwed onto the beams using 50mm FastFix Conservatory Screws (supplied in the Kit)

Initial Batten Installation

Step 2. Next, staple the insulation directly onto the battens at 300mm intervals. Ensure all Insulation joints are overlapped by a minimum of 50mm. Ensure overlaps are fully taped and sealed using Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape. Both the Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape and the Staple Gun Kit are supplied in the Kit.

Step 3. Once the Insulation products are fully taped, sealed, and overlapped, proceed with installing 25mm deep counter battens. Ensure battens are also installed around the perimeter for your internal boarding.

Secondary Batten Installation

Step 4. Plasterboard or Plastic Cladding can be installed as the internal layer. The plasterboard is then screwed into the battens in the usual manner. We would recommend using a 9mm Plasterboard as this will keep the weight down.

Step 5. Finally, finish with plaster and then paint. It is then time to enjoy your revived Conservatory all year round! The conservatory will stay cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter, and also significantly reduce rain noise.

Before & After Insulation…

We also recommend using the ThermaFrost Tint Kit if you are insulating the underside of a glass conservatory roof. The purpose of a tint is to reduce the UV rays from the sun accessing the cavity between the glass and the reflective foil. This also looks more aesthetically pleasing as you will not see the outer layers of the multifoil through the glass.

So ask yourself, is your Conservatory currently too hot to use? If so, it’s time to Insulate it now!
